Private Alexander Technique Lessons
I offer private lessons in Alexander Technique in Decatur, GA.
Lessons run in sessions of 45 minutes in length. In a typical private lesson, students bring their issues about physical pain, their ways of standing and relating to the world, and questions about Alexander Technique applications in the "real world" to the lesson. Together we work on finding possibilities for change that work for each individual. I don't believe I have all the answers for you - in fact, I know I don't. What the Alexander Technique does is create the possibility and space for change. When you begin to understand that and use it in a practical way, you become your own Alexander Teacher. Hands-on is an important component of any Alexander Lesson. In addition, we examine the Alexander Technique principals together, and learn about contemplative anatomy and body mapping. I believe that you must understand and know your body in order to allow it to work with maximum ease and grace. If you are a musician, bring your instrument. If you work with computers all day, bring your laptop. Working in activity is a key component of every private Alexander lesson in my studio. People always want to know "How many lessons is enough?" Well, that's determined on a case-by-case basis, and is up to you. Always. What I know from my teaching experience is that un-learning habits takes time, and patience. Consequently, I suggest that people take a minimum of 8 weekly lessons (2 months) and then we can evaluate from there as a team how to proceed. Some people continue lessons for months; some people take lessons for years. Frequency and duration also vary depending on the individual. A private lesson goes far more in depth than we can in a class situation. I encourage all class students to invest in at least one private lesson while you are taking my classes. Regular Cost: Forty-five minutes - $80 One Hour - $100 |

What students are saying: "I am an actor living in New York City and have been practicing Alexander Technique for the past two years. While working in Atlanta, I had the privilege of meeting Robbin. Through her unique and gentle guidance, I found an openness and a happiness that I am able to look back on as one of the most inspiring periods of my life. She is as extraordinary a teacher as she is a treasure of a human being." - Hazen Culyer, actor |
