Contra and English Dance Piano

Robbin Marcus has been playing for both contra and English dances since the early part of this century. Classically trained as a piano major, Robbin's versatility shines in the improvisatory dance arena. Here, she gets to really "let go" and just play for fun, riffing off other musicians and always discovering something new about familiar music.

Robbin is a member of Reelplay, her band with spouse Dave Marcus. Reelplay happily plays for both English country and Contra dance gigs.  Information about Reelplay can be found on our website. You will also find a host of recordings of us playing dance tunes there.

With the delightful addition of Corinne Wilkinson on Wind Synthesizer, we become Shapeshifter - our new dance band for both Contras and English Country dances. With 3 classical musicians at its core, Shapeshifter can go from refined and ethereal to soulful, rhythmic and funky in a single evening.

Robbin is available outside these bands for playing both alone and with others. Just ask.
